Often found walking behind or beside the title character of the series, Edward Elric alchemy prodigy, is a huge and intimidating flashy suit of armor named Alphonse Elric. Alphonse is the younger brother of the protagonist of the series. Don't be surprised because of the contrast of their height. Alphonse Elric is a hollow empty suit of armor which contains a young and innocent living soul. His kind and honest soul was bounded inside this armor by his older brother, Edward Elric, after they attempted to bring their deceased mother back to life.

Of course, being the younger brother of a well know and genius, Fullmetal Alchemist Edward Elric, Alphonse is also known as a talented alchemist just like his older brother. But in every introduction, because of his physical appearance for being a huge suit of armor, most of the people they first meet claims that Alphonse is the Fullmetal Alchemist because Edward looks like his tiny assistant. It will take a couple of minutes of explanation before people would digest that Alphonse it the "younger brother" while Edward is the older brother and the popular State Alchemist.

Alphonse has a kind and honest spirit, and he is a very gentle-mannered boy. This is usually why he is liked by many characters in the story and why I like him a lot and of course because of his sweet personality unlike his brute and hot-headed older brother.
